Greystone Mansion Rose Garden & Greenhouse

Project type

City Park and Event Space

Date

2010

Location

Beverly Hills, CA

The Historic Greenhouse complex and surrounding gardens went under renovation and have been reprogrammed for contemporary public uses. Our renovation design draws on research of historic plans and photographs to maintain the National Register of Historic Places designation. The landscape renovation included research of the original 1920’s landscape for Greystone designed by Paul Thiene. The renovation encompasses a 6-acre area within the overall 18-acre site including the main and secondary Entries and Gates, the Doheny Road streetscape, Rose Garden, Greenhouse and 2+ acre slope bounded by the west property line, the main property driveway and the historic Stable area and related buildings.
The project involved extensive interaction with multiple Community Groups and City departments including Community Services, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Engineering and Maintenance. We established a strong relationship with the City of Beverly Hills and the Friends of Greystone, a non-profi t group focused on the ongoing renovation and preservation of Greystone Mansion and Park. Scope of work included being team leader, managing the consultants which included; Historic Preservationist, Civil, Structural and Electrical Engineers, and Environmentalist for the City of Beverly Hills. The Scope of Work included project phasing, concept design, schematic design and construction documents and construction administration.
