Kari M. Brooner
Landscape Architect, Owner

Kari M. Brooner is a Registered Landscape Architect in California and Nevada with over 25 years of professional experience as a project manager and landscape architectural designer. Kari's career was founded on work experience at top design firms in Southern California. She achieved Associate positions at EDAW Irvine that later was acquired by AECOM and Whitin Design Works in Laguna Beach where she lead and designed projects all over Southern California. Her experience encompasses conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documents, construction and field management, as well as the creation and development of graphics and illustratives using hand drawn techniques, CAD, photoshop suite and 3D modeling. She has experience designing and managing numerous projects throughout each level of design to completion.  Kari earned her BLA degree, Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and completed a national study at University of Massachusetts Amherst.

 

She has worked intimately with Developers, Cities and Redevelopment Agencies in processing projects through entitlement, approval and permitting. She has design experience with master planned communities in California and Texas, resort, spa and restaurant design, theme park design, redevelopment and planning, historic preservation, medical campus design and planning, mixed-use, urban design, trail and open space planning, park and recreation planning and design, creek improvements and interpretive design and high end residential.

  

Serving others is a big part of how KMB design studio gives back. Kari has worked with many non-profit organizations in Southern California donating her design services for public work. She is currently the lead Landscape Architect for the Orange County Rescue Mission and was recently awarded the President’s Volunteer Silver Service award for her work with OCRM and the Home Depot Foundation. She has also served by helping Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, San Marcos Boys and Girls Club, San Marcos Historical Society and North Coast Church.

                   

Kari became a Mom in 2009 and decided to start her business, KMB Design Studio in April 2010 to balance motherhood and her career as a Landscape Architect. Kari has successfully grown her small business over the past 13 years while also being a single mother of three young daughters. In her free time, Kari loves to cheer on her daughters at their sporting events, volunteer at her church and with local non profits, road trip to National Parks and explore the beautiful world we live in.
